As life grabs you by the throat
Choking you as and when there is an ego bloat
Thrusting pain vehemently on your soul
Beating you down from pole to pole
Life is as tough as sailing on a sinking boat
Life tries to drown you as you try to stay afloat
Crippled, paralysed, yet moving on
Looking for greener pastures and forgetting the old burnt
lawn
Life is after all nothing but a painful journey
That offers quiet among the crowd’s cacophony
And amidst all, you sit and ponder
Is life worth the pain or is death better yonder?
But then you pick up the shards of your broken heart
From the sad lands of self-pity you vow to depart
And all through this pain, you gain experience
In all the timidity some confidence you begin to sense
Philosophy starts oozing from every pore
You start realizing the impact of pain instead of feeling
sore
Like wine, the years shall help you bloom
Glory days shall one day replace your gloom
That is when you realise the pleasure in this pain
You wouldn’t have risen if you hadn’t been slain
The success in your palms would make no sense
If you didn’t have to break barriers and cross the fence
Ultimately you embrace the bitter truth of mankind
Life is a pleasurable pain which is one of its kind
Death may give you a moment’s solace
But beyond the unknown do we know if in death there’s grace?
So yes, there shall be philosophy, pain and experience
and pride
Take this and life’s pleasurable pain all in your
stride
Learn over time that life is nothing but a journey of
pleasurable pain
Without the downs and the blows there can never be any
gain!
