Maturity Defies Age

In an era where man is ruled by gadgets
Where the world refuses to bury all hatchets
War crimes are rampant
Innocence is absent
I saw myself growing up faster, thinking quicker

Where the opposition is brutal
Where mental wounds are fatal
In such a cruel world I exist
All simple joys I continue to resist
As I have to move swifter, I have to act tougher

I envy the ones who have lived before me
No media scrutiny, they lived angst free
The mind is now a dark cloud of grey
The pure and pious seem to have no say
I’ve got to become colder as the path keeps getting rougher

Goodness seems to remain a thing of the past
Infanthood is all the while that the naivety shall last
The world has become smaller and global in the true sense
Yet we have no time to stop all bloodshed and make amends
Debt ridden livelihood thanks to the recession
Guilt ridden conscience thanks to this monetary obsession
I wish my morals were better, I wish my ethics were sounder.

As maturity continues to defy age
Puny teens becoming tougher to gauge
Childhood seems a long lost riddle
The world we live in is my unsolved puzzle
I shall keep solving it harder, keep looking for the answers deeper!
